What is art?

After thinking about it, and after today's discussion, it seems as if a better question would be "What isn't art?"

My Introduction

My name is Laura Jean Hosey

I like computers very much. I am equally comfortable on a Mac or PC, and use both regularly. I was a database manager for an educational program for one year, and have done a variety of desktop publishing in my current and past jobs. Every day I learn about scores of computer things I know nothing about.

I have taken a course in Photoshop, and I have dabbled at website design, photo altering/enhancement, and general playing around on the computer.

I want to take this class to add some neat artistic tools to my toolbelt, explore my creative muse, merge technological skills with my creative process, and lastly see John's process and hopefully, hopefully, magically pick up on some of his talent at artistic expression through the MacGyver approach.

My goal for this class is to not let myself get in the way of my own creativity, and to learn some new technical skills.

I have too many projects vying for attention right now, but will choose between a painting of my daughter in dream-world, a website/logo design for myself, or a start of illustrations for a children's book.

As mentioned earlier, I work on both Macs and PCs.

I do identify myself as an artist… to myself. When it comes to our identity and other people, well that's more complex.

This class would go well for me if I allow myself to learn and grow without judgment, and learn something new about myself and what I'm capable of, without getting in my own way.

Le Blog is made.

Here it is, yo!
